If you are just waiting to buy it on the cheap buy it from a place with the "price garauntee" crap, if it drops in 30 days, you get the money back. I think circuit city, and target both do that.

Tampering with the hardware will void the warrenty. But there is still a pay to replace option, not sure if they'll do it then too.

Will Microsoft still replace my XBOX 360, even if I broke it all to pieces trying to get inside? I would just buy a new bare bones one, but the price is supposed to drop $80 in the middle of August. Grrrr.....

I got the 3RLOD couple of weeks ago, luckly, since its an not fixable hardware failure, you get a new Xbox faster than normal since they don't have to try and repair it!
